Title: 34 Days in New Mexico [3/6]
Author: Laekin
Rating: FRT
Pairing: Gen, focus on the Friendship/Bromance between Aaron Hotchner and John Blackwolf.
Summary: Where Hotch went for those 34 days after Foyet's attack.
Author Notes: Again, I can not thank everybody enough for taking a moment to let me know you're enjoying this story! Trying to keep up with a post every other day!

It is now time for a bit of a case to add into the mix! ;)

I also need to give big, HUGE props to my beta [info]cala_jane who is tasked with keeping me on track both for the case as well as the character development.

I in no way own any rights to the Criminal Mind characters or their universe, I'm just hobby playing in the sandbox.

A small number of icons from the episode 'North Mammon', which, FYI, is one of my favorites...

And I'm still learning, so there's not gonna be any amazing effects or anything just yet, LOL.

Location: Guelph, Ontario, Canada

Lintilla

Lintilla is number seven in our household. My husband and I were driving past a park when I saw a tiny kitten at the edge of the park driveway. We stopped and hoped she wouldn’t run off. She did but after about 10 minutes she came back. I caught her by meowing to her in the bushes. Once I had a hold of her she purred up a storm. She was starved and her feet were all cut up as if she has been thrown from a car. We checked for and siblings but there were no more kittens in the bushes.

HI, I'm a really new fan, and I have a question to ask. Um. In an effort to get caught up, I'm watching some episodes online. However, I having a REALLY hard time finding them..... just finding the video to watch one episode has taken me about a week... ^^; ha ha ha. So if anyone has a website of link that is good? Or if you just can't watch Criminal Minds online, can you tell me that too...? Yeah...

Anyway, thanks. :)

Plus: When I went to change my name at the DMV this morning, they were friendlier than at any previous time I've ever gone to a DMV.

Minus: I've had a ridiculous number of driver's licenses. I had my MA one until I was almost 27 (I got it at 17, so it expired at 22/27, not 16/21/26), then I had a NY one, then I moved here and got a VA one, then this is my second VA one, but it kept the same expiration date so I'll need to renew it in just over a year.

Plus: I got to the DMV early enough that there was still parking. (They open at 8:00 on Saturdays; the lot is totally full by 7:55.)

Minus: That meant standing in line outside for 15 minutes... and we had our first frost last night. Brrr!

Plus: I'm going to Disney World in four weeks for my honeymoon.

Plus: The ID I take to Disney World will actually reflect my married name!

Minus: All of the flights I booked for the rest of the year (5) are in my old name, and I must remember to bring my passport for ID.

Minus: The new TSA SecureFlight program is royally going to fuck me over if / when they start seriously enforcing it, because now my ID has four names (First Middle1 Middle2 Last) and not a single airline's web form lets you put that in.

Plus: It's peppermint mocha season!

Minus: That means it's also "work out more" season.

I haven't ever ordered either of Lizzy House's previous fabric lines but they're both rather deliciously retro mod in their aesthetics. She's coming out with a new line called Castle Peeps and it's medieval society done through a mid-century mod aesthetic and I LOVE IT. OMG. I just love the little peasants hunched over from their loads. It's like the Bayeux tapestry meme meets Mad Men. I absolutely definitely must make something out of this when it comes out.

23374 / 50000

Almost halfway and just in the middle of the big reveal scene. However my brain is fried and doesn't want to let me continue. I'm torn though. I feel like if I let the cat out of the bag, things are just downhill from there. Not sure if that makes sense? I think that is why I'm so reluctant to write this part.

How's everyone else doing?

Firstly, Thanks to everyone who commented on my last stories! It's extremely appreciated, no matter what it is :)
This is my entry for the 5 time challenge at criminal_prompt. It is currently unbeta'd and if there's anyone out there who'd be willing to, I am looking for you! :P I so don't trust my rereads to catch all of my horrible grammar mistakes :P
i tried a bit more dialogue in this one, but I don't know how much I'll be doing it in future fics. This is inspired by a story my friend was telling me earlier about he dog.

Watching a rerun of "Memoriam" on A&E and I can't but help (AGAIN) wish Hotch had stayed with Reid during the session with the hypnotist.  I wonder what the logic of having Rossi there was?  And was this just because it was a Thomas Gibson "lite" episode?

A quick reminder (as I was just asked) that today is the day that the bookshop Graveyard Book party reports have to be in to Harper Collins. By 9 pm PST.

http://files.harpercollins.com/Mktg/HarperChildrens/PDF/GraveyardContest_rules.pdf are the rules and info for those who lost them.

Hi Mr. Gaiman,

I was disappointed today to read you won't be part of the judging for The Graveyard Book contests. My not-wealthy, middle-of-nowhere bookstore just sent in its entry, and something we're concerned about is the fairness of judging.

For example, independent bookstores like Powell's (I'm sure you know) easily have enough money and are in a convenient enough location to ask you to come at one time or another. Against stores like that, who were able to put more money into their parties, we stand little chance.

I don't think that it's a lost cause for us; we were very creative. I'm just nervous to know you won't be judging. Can you tell me whether you think the judges will take things like size and location of bookstores into account? It would make me sleep a little easier until the results are announced.

Tusen takk,
Allison

Well, per the rules, the judging is based on:

(i) Overall creativity of the Party, as demonstrated by the invitations, signage, decorations, activities, entertainment, and refreshments.
(ii) Customer attendance and response (i.e., enthusiasm, costumes, participation).
(iii) Ability to capture and represent the spirit of The Graveyard Book.

...specifically to reward creativity, and not the ability to outspend other shops. (That was also why the party had to actually be at the bookshop, and not at another location.)

I asked my editor, Elise Howard, and she said,

Gosh, yes. Here's what we think is happening. We are looking at all the entries. On Monday, we'll send you the best 11, from which you will choose the Grand Prize Winner. The rest will get the first-prize package. So the short answer is that you ARE helping to choose.

The longer answer is that we will be very fair and will consider creativity, which includes work done with available resources, along with pure execution. (Don't you think? We haven't done anything yet; still waiting for more entries to come in.)

...which means that

a) I was wrong and will be the ultimate judge, from the shortlist. (Damn.)

and

b) everyone's on a level playing field.

Does that help reassure you?

PS -- Widgett's Graveyard Book Dessert competition winners have been announced over at http://www.needcoffee.com/2009/11/06/graveyard-book-dessert-challenge-winners/.

This one had NOTHING to do with me at all. But lor' the winning desserts look tasty...
