(500) Days of Summer:

1. All right, I'm just going to say it. NEEDS MOAR GUBLER. Now that that's out of the way.
2. I desperately want Zooey Deschanel's hair.
3. Joseph Gordon-Levitt sort of had a Heath Ledger thing going on—sharp angles on the face, deep-set eyes, smirking grin.
4. I loved the architectural details interspersed throughout the movie. They were a nice way to emphasize the fact that Tom wasn't living up to his dreams.
5. Marc Webb stole the majority of the soundtrack from my iPod. True story. Okay not really true, but I was having a fun little internal game of "identify this song" and I got most of them.
6. Summer's attitude towards love and life very much reminded me of Betsy. Also the HUMONGOUS EYES. I miss the Betsy (and the rest of the Orlando folks!).
7. OF COURSE HIS NEW OBJECT OF AFFECTION IS NAMED AUTUMN. I literally facepalmed at that. I was with you until that, Marc Webb, but at that point, you sort of stepped into cutesyville and I just couldn't go with you.
8. The karaoke scene was delightful and I sort of want to hear JGL actually sing, because he seems as though he might be quite good at it.
9. I totally thought of [info]teamradvak every time Tom wore his Joy Division shirt.
10. Overall, a very good movie. I liked the way it was structured, the writing was sharp, the acting all around was very good.

Before the movie, I saw trailers for Whip It! (OMG want to see that so very badly) and Adam, which looks cute and awkward and full of the ever-charming Mr. Dancy. (not Darcy, DaNcy.)

Tomorrow: Heather and Rob's virtual baby shower (via phone call, since we couldn't all convene in Maryland), Greek Festival (there had better be a MOUNTAN of BAKLAVA), and a co-worker's birthday party (there are promises of s'mores!).

HELLO WORLD. Man, it feels weird to not post as frequently as I'm used to. I got a bit out of the habit when I was packing/moving/internet-less, but now it's just kind of weird. The job is going extremely well, keeping me super busy and occupied and I LOVE IT. My brain has been hurting every evening, because I'm literally not used to using it as much (I mean, it was definitely not taxed for a year and a half).

I've been keeping pretty busy still. My adventures in Colorado, so far. )

Star Trek + "I'm On a Boat" = BEST THING EVER (Totally NSFW, but had me rolling on the floor, for serious.) Scroll all the way down to the bottom to watch the fanvid version. My one regret is that there are apparently no flippy-floppies in space.

In related news, I need a new stamp in my Fangirl passport because I am all aboard the Chris Pine Fantrain. I blame [info]lanyon and [info]spoonishly. And by blame, I mean thank.

I'm thinking about seeing The Hangover this weekend. I'm tempted to turn it into a double-header and see Star Trek again. And then I may watch some more Harry Potter movies in anticipation of my re-read of the series. OH, I also borrowed Rise of the Lycans and S. Darko (the latter purely for the Jackson content, as I really do not like Donnie Darko) from Jen.

I finished a pair of socks last night and immediately cast on for another. It's a sickness. And my February Lady Sweater is moving along. For some reason the rows of garter stitch were nothing, but the gull lace is dragging a bit. I think it's the fact that I actually have to pay attention. I can knit all day long with no problems, but knit plus yarn overs and then purling back is a bit more time-consuming? I don't know. Meanwhile, I found the most adorable cardigan yesterday and it totally called out to be knit in the green Ella Rae yarn that I picked up on sale and so now I really want to knit it. One problem: the pattern is in French. Any of my knitter friends read French knitting instructions? I think I can figure most of it out with the help of Babelfish and my own knowledge of French and knitting, but a little support would not be amiss.

So, we had a few days of excitement there, but now it seems that all is back to normal and I'm still an incredible nerd who loves sci-fi/fantasy and knitting.

I am not going to lie. Most of you wish you were here right now.

After watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on ABC Family and then the beginnings of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, I decided that I needed to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. So I did. And I twittered an awful lot about that, sorry. And now it's time for Labyrinth. SIR DIDYMUS, yes.

Am tempted to blow off work tomorrow and have a Lord of the Rings marathon or a full on Harry Potter marathon, but I know that won't happen. Sigh.

I still want to be Sarah for Halloween some year, but I'm afraid that no one will get it if I just show up in jeans and a long, flowy white shirt. Maybe if I could harass someone into being the Goblin King.

Why, you ask?

Because I've processed and uploaded all of my pictures from my weekend in Colorado...but you can't see the majority of the photos from the wedding. I HAVE MY REASONS. I will post them as soon as a certain something happens.

My weekend in Colorado, by The Amy )

Okay, so Chuck. Kind of awesome. Must figure out some way to watch season 2 over the summer. And how could you all hold out on me? As I was watching, I was thinking that Zachary Levi was pretty darn adorable, and then I watched one of the special features, and he had long hair and was all scruffy (this was during the writer's strike, apparently)... Really, I must thank Tia repeatedly for encouraging me to watch this show. :D And now I must go find some icons.

I am not sure that I am emotionally prepared for tonight's Criminal Minds finale. I am terrified that they're going to give us a serious cliffhanger, and unlike seasons 1-3, I can't go find out what happens right away! This worries me.

In unfortunate news, my mom sent me an email this evening, and apparently she doesn't expect that her mother will make it to the end of the week. Obviously we all hope that she will make a miraculous recovery, but being realistic, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and hope for a relatively pain-free passing, whenever it may happen.

Wow. There's a lot to process here.

For those of you who are Criminal Minds fans and/or Big Bang Theory fans, here's a picspam comparing Dr. Spencer Reid to Sheldon Cooper. I don't watch BBT (at the moment), but this picspam cracked me up.

This morning, the barista at Starbucks told me she loved my bag. This was made extra special by the fact that it's the bag I made myself.

I really need to sleep tonight and tomorrow night. It would be nice. I couldn't fall asleep last night--probably dozed off sometime after 1, and then I was up at 6:30 when the alarm went off. I'm thinking chamomile or sleepy tea in the evenings. Except I have to time it JUST RIGHT tomorrow because I can't go off to Colorado without knowing what's going to happen to Reid this time.

I've acquired a little nest egg in my PayPal account and I was really itching to buy some yarn yesterday. However, I managed to refrain, mostly by reminding myself that I have two skeins of sock yarn coming as part of the Vamp club, as well as some more sock yarn that is payment for other services rendered, and you know, souvenir yarn. (Oh lord.) So instead I bought this (hoping Etsy link works).

Thanks to FX, I have seen The Mummy Returns, X-Men 3: The Last Stand, and Underworld: Evolution numerous times over the last few days. They make for good background noise. OH! I should buy Rise of the Lycans.

Oh, and Castle and Dollhouse both really need to be renewed, because I need to know what happens after those finales.

I think I've seen all of the Star Trek movies. If I haven't, it wasn't for lack of trying on my dad's part. And I've seen episodes here and there but not enough to really call myself a true fan or anything. But I was super excited to see the new Star Trek movie, and I was not disappointed.

10 Somewhat Random Observations About Star Trek-includes spoilers )

Now, I really should get to cleaning. However, this whole not sleeping thing that's been going on for the last couple of days makes me really want to take a nap. I shall strive to stay awake, though, and hopefully sleep tonight.
